Purple rain

Hey!

Student shop at Topshop was awesome, spent way too much money though! I got this purple dress (would not have bought it without the discount!) then wore it out Tuesday night. Yet again, I failed to take outfit shots before going out but I don't think this one (taken in the club) is too bad! You can't see my shoes but they weren't too exciting anyway!

I also got this adorable skirt! Though I was really pissed off 'cause I went in earlier in the day and a couple of my friends (who work there duh) promised to hold my stuff for me till later on, which they did. Then some geek decides to put everything that was on hold back out on the floor where of course it gets hoovered right back up again by greedy students! F was running around trying to find my stuff but alas this skirt was nowhere to be found in my size...the smaller size fits in a kind of high-waisted, very short way which is ok at night but I wanted to wear it during the day too!
it has the cutest detail on the back, a bow and an exposed zipper!

I heart student discount!

This is Tuesday's outfit;

The shoes are Dorothy Perkins, H&M tights, tee shirt and chains, the blue top was thrifted and the jacket is vinatge from ebay, as is the silver cuff. I cut my face off 'cause my hair is wet and it makes me look like an egg! Topshop student night tonight woop! I'm off for recon....

Monday's outfit;

This sheer jumper/dress thig was a gift from my relatives in Australia, before now I couldn't figure out how to wear it, but I think I like it like this! I'm wearing it with my H&M skirt and tee (which I rolled up and tied at the back like the good ol' 90's days when imitating Sabrina the teenage witch or the pink Power Ranger, you know you did it too!). You can't really tell but I'm wearing my belt bracelet. The shoes are vintage from etsy. I also found another use for my bow brooch, a hair accesory!
Check out how long my hair is, I really need it cut actually - I'm beginning to look like this scruffy urban fox we saw on Saturday night! That thing was mangy, I thought it was just some stray dog - practically a crack fox!

DIY: mission accomplished

On Sunday night I finally got on with the two DIYs I had been contemplating, the bow brooch and the leather bracelet. I hope this post doesn't come across patronising because both of these are very simple but some of you had asked for a step-by-step to the bow brooch so I thought I'd give it a go!

The leather bracelet:

I got this belt for £1 in a charity shop.

You need to begin by putting the belt on and pulling it quite tight (a bit like shooting up, I guess, not that I'd know!). Guess how long it needs to be and leave a little extra for mistakes (it also makes it easier to put on!). Make a hole in the appropriate place with a screwdriver or scissors, this part is probably easier if you're belt isn't leather.
Then snip of the end and you're done! I've kept the extra, not too sure why but it may hit me at some point!
The bow brooch: The tools; fabric scissors (sharp!), needle and thread in a similar colour to your chosen ribbon.

I went for this petrol-blue colour but I have no idea why, it's just pretty. I got quite a thick ribbon, maybe about 2-3 inches thick.
Firstly, you need to cut a little square off the bottom of your ribbon and hold onto it. Then tie your ribbon aroung the non-opening side of your safety pin. You need to make sure and do the kind of bow where both "loops" end up at the top and both "tails" are at the bottom, I think it's the kind where you make one loop and the other one goes around and through it, rather than the "bunny ears" method...did that make any sense?!
Ok, should've rotated this picture! Next, you use the little square of ribbon to cover up the knot - I would probably recommend sweing it but I assume that glue would also work.
Then tidy up your ends, I favour the fold it in half and make cute pointy bits method.
Done!
I hope you enjoyed fashionsqueah's first foray into the world of DIY! I enjoyed it a lot actually, I find crafty things very soothing. Doing something creative every now and then lets me release the part of my brain that diminishes with each year it spends in libraries and long lectures. Last year I was really into making jewellery (especially bracelets), this year seems to be a bit more random!

Its been a little while since I've done a post so I thought I'd get my ass in gear! The past few days have been a blurry haze of fast paced errands and checking off my to-do list whilst looking for a new job (I have a degree for goodness sake, i must be more worthy of coffee making!!!). So it has been a bit tiring, nevertheless, I've got some material worthy of a post :)
I've gotten into watching Ugly Betty again, I forgot how much I loved it! I love how bitchy receptionist Amanda thinks that Gene Simmons is her dad! Oh my goodness, when did Betty and Henry split?! AND WHY?! I cant be bothered with looknig for episodes, waiting until the box set comes out to buy, you-tubing episodes etc.

This is quite random but I loved the colour of the leaves on this tree outside my house. This was an uber cold and frosty morning (despite the little bit of sunshine!), my fave kind of morning! The sky was super blue blue too, which made the leaves even more vibrant, but sadly, you cant tell in the picture! *love*
To compliement the chilly morning; Cardigan; H&M. Shirt; New Look. TRousers; Topshop. Boots; I REALLY cannot remember, but the shop has closed down now where I got 'em. Possible one of those generic shoe shops? Ahh cannot remember! Jewellery; vintage/Accessorize.

Ooh, I also bought this one night after work (I sped into town to the nearest Topshop after I seen it on the website);

Please excuse my mum's latest purchase for herself, star bedsheets HAHA! Anyway, its a cosy knitted wool jumper with little pearls attached! I was a bit apprehensive at the price (£50!! But I did get it for £45 with student discount, woop!) but still, I'd put money away to treat myself/for a rainy day so I thought; why not?! I was snooping around thefashionspot a few days ago, and came across the lovely Clemence Poesy's thread there at Star Style. I did a little post on Clemence when Char and myself first started doing this blog. I just though I'd add in a few pics to this post to point out how lovely she looked at Paris Fashion week! I'd love to have a little look around her closet.

Tired.

Hey!

Very fun night last night; drinks at mine, then to my favourite pub for Parma Violet vodka, a flat party and finally a club! Tired today but that was made better with bacon rolls and sausages and the Sex and the City movie with my three best friends from school. This shoddy photo is the only one I have of my outfit last night; note to self, take outfit shots before vodka shots...

Disclaimer: I didn't actually do shots last night but it sounded kinda catchy!

You can kinda get a better view of the dress/skirt thing here. It's originally from H&M but I got it from ebay, the bangle was a gift and the belt is also H&M. The denim jacket is Moto from Topshop, I have had it since I was 14!

This was my outfit from Thursday; just boring lectures and a tutorial...

H&M pink peep-toes, black tights from who-cares-where, Primark skirt and floral top, Dorothy Perkins bustier. This bustier is so versitile, it literally goes with everything!
This was Friday's outfit, morning lecture then lunch at our student union (awesome burgers - and uber cheap!).

Black peep-toes - H&M, H&M tights, Topshop dress, I heart NY tee from New York (duh!), cardigan which was a gift and hairband which I think is H&M.

Oh! I went into a charity shop t'other day and found the perfect belt for this project!

Leggings

Hey!
I found an ebay seller with good (cheap) alternatives for these babies;
Topshop - £18. The American Apparel equivolents are £23!Topshop - £18

The ebay person also has cute (and very comfy-looking) leopard and zebra print leggings! Oh and I was only looking at the metallic green ones because I'm thinking of going as Old Gregg for Halloween! Although, if anyone else caught the last episode of "The Fashion Show" on ITV2, they did put lac leggings over metallic ones and it looked pretty awesome!

Hey there!

Hope everyone's well! I am feeling much better having finally snapped out of the black mood laptop repair bills put me in and getting started on some dissertation reading. Wednesday's outfit;

I still love these H&M tights, they make everything look better. The shoes are vintage from etsy, the dress is Zara and the top (which I maybe should've ironed!) is from Topshop.

This was Tuesday's outfit, please excuse crap photography - I think this was one of those outfits that looks much better in person than in a photo anyway, do you guys get those too?

The leopard-print flats are from New Look, tightsplease tights, primark boob-tube/skirt, vintage lace nightdress (worn as skirt), "R" tee from H&M and long cardigan from Zara.

Monday's outfit;
Same ol' leopard flats, 100 dens, dress and cardigan from H&M and the yellow bow is part of a top I got from ebay.

Sea and I found these awesome Emilio Cavallini tights on mytights and thought them a good alternative for those of us who will never own the sacred Chanel tights (which are selling on ebay, if you have a couple of hundred pounds spare). Aren't they nice?
On an unrelated note; does anyone else hate how tights models wear tights with nothing on top? I mean, we need to see the product but I'm sure we don't need to see gusset! Just stick like a non-distracting black skirt on or something, please! They are wearing shoes though so I suppose not looking at toe-gusset is a plus.

1. I used to be a cheerleader. A pom-pom toting, weird-face-pulling, uniform-wearing cheerleader. In fact I was a captain of my squad.

I have a recurring nightmare in which one of my legs is shorter than the other, running away from the mocking that ensues due to this debillitating condition is futile as I can move only in a circular motion. I usually wake up close to tears and fumble under the covers to check that all my limbs are in proportion, as nature intended.
