Boots.

I need new boots;

These are all from here, it's my favourite street style site - it lets you view Tokyo fashion by area, sweet!
These are just OMFG. No other words...
As are these;
And these;

The last two are both from Schuh. They're not cheap but boots are one of the few things I am actually willing to spend a bit on, since I tend to live in them! The second ones I guess could be DIYed...but I'd probably rather just buy them!

You're made of sunshine

Hey!
Today I went shopping; popped into my work to get a present for my friend's birthday on Friday (and some earrings for myself!) and of course to H&M! I'll show my purchases at some point but right now I'm too tired!
Dorothy perkins shoes and top, H&M skirt, Topshop cardigan and vintage fake pearls (some from ebay, some thrifted), the earrings are real though!

Did anyone see the new episode of Gossip Girl? Awesome...plus Blair's outfit with the green and purple (if I were an editor right now I'd say "jewel tones"...) makes me need something purple to wear with my new skirt.

ps We've had a little make-over, do you like it?

Shopping in my closet...

Hey!
So, in these financially difficult times we live in (credit crunch, recession etc...) women's magazines and newspapers are always telling us to "shop in our own wardrobes for new outfits!". Usually, I'm not a big fan of this philosophy, the materialistic bitch in me would rather just have new stuff to be honest! But the other day in Topshop, I admired this skirt and it reminded me of a simlar one from Zara which I had years ago and assumed I had thrown out or given away at some point...
Well, today I found it! It was in a suitcase full of stuff I never wear anymore (ie cropped jeans and embellished vest tops, ew!). Pretty similar though, no?
In addition to shopping in my own wardrobe, I did real shopping the other day and scored this skirt in the Topshop sale (£10.80 with trusty student discount!), which is awesome considering I almost bought it full price anyway!

I suppose the moral of the story (if there had to be one) is that shopping in your own wardrobe and re-discovering lost items is awesome. But real shopping is better.

ps It's not immediatly obvious so I should point out that last Halloween (see this picture Sea posted) I was supposed to be some sort of mid-eighties Maddonna, hence lace gloves! Basically I found an awesome '80s dress, fell in love and based my costume on the dress!

Dear Mr Bank Manager,

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to spend more money...I am a woman in love. With a dress.

Princess Peach

I'm really loving peach coloured things right now, they remind me of my ballet days!

Both taken from facehunter.

When I was little, I honestly though I'd grow up to be Princess Peach from Mario Brothers (a brunette version, obvs). Probably a sign that, even though I was a girly girl in the extreme, I spent a lot of time playing Nintendo games with my brother and his friends...also, why was she called Peach if her dress was pink?

I should've bought this at the Topshop student night thing...

AAwesome

Oh American Apparel, what are you doing to me? You appear to have read my mind and discovered my love of sheer things, things with the letters of my name on and oversize things (they make me feel skinny)...

They didn't have a picture of the Rr version (explanation of R here) but it does exsist!

Purple rain

Hey!
Student shop at Topshop was awesome, spent way too much money though! I got this purple dress (would not have bought it without the discount!) then wore it out Tuesday night. Yet again, I failed to take outfit shots before going out but I don't think this one (taken in the club) is too bad! You can't see my shoes but they weren't too exciting anyway!

This is the photo from the website, probably easier to see the shape of the dress!
I also got this adorable skirt! Though I was really pissed off 'cause I went in earlier in the day and a couple of my friends (who work there duh) promised to hold my stuff for me till later on, which they did. Then some geek decides to put everything that was on hold back out on the floor where of course it gets hoovered right back up again by greedy students! F was running around trying to find my stuff but alas this skirt was nowhere to be found in my size...the smaller size fits in a kind of high-waisted, very short way which is ok at night but I wanted to wear it during the day too!
it has the cutest detail on the back, a bow and an exposed zipper!

Leggings

Hey!
I found an ebay seller with good (cheap) alternatives for these babies;
Topshop - £18. The American Apparel equivolents are £23!Topshop - £18
The ebay person also has cute (and very comfy-looking) leopard and zebra print leggings! Oh and I was only looking at the metallic green ones because I'm thinking of going as Old Gregg for Halloween! Although, if anyone else caught the last episode of "The Fashion Show" on ITV2, they did put lac leggings over metallic ones and it looked pretty awesome!

Hey there!
Hope everyone's well! I am feeling much better having finally snapped out of the black mood laptop repair bills put me in and getting started on some dissertation reading. Wednesday's outfit;

I still love these H&M tights, they make everything look better. The shoes are vintage from etsy, the dress is Zara and the top (which I maybe should've ironed!) is from Topshop.

This was Tuesday's outfit, please excuse crap photography - I think this was one of those outfits that looks much better in person than in a photo anyway, do you guys get those too?

The leopard-print flats are from New Look, tightsplease tights, primark boob-tube/skirt, vintage lace nightdress (worn as skirt), "R" tee from H&M and long cardigan from Zara.

Monday's outfit;
Same ol' leopard flats, 100 dens, dress and cardigan from H&M and the yellow bow is part of a top I got from ebay.

Sea and I found these awesome Emilio Cavallini tights on mytights and thought them a good alternative for those of us who will never own the sacred Chanel tights (which are selling on ebay, if you have a couple of hundred pounds spare). Aren't they nice?
On an unrelated note; does anyone else hate how tights models wear tights with nothing on top? I mean, we need to see the product but I'm sure we don't need to see gusset! Just stick like a non-distracting black skirt on or something, please! They are wearing shoes though so I suppose not looking at toe-gusset is a plus.

We've been tagged! Both Slanelle and Ariella of Pearls in your Hair tagged us to answer the "six quirks" about ourselves...

1. I used to be a cheerleader. A pom-pom toting, weird-face-pulling, uniform-wearing cheerleader. In fact I was a captain of my squad.
2. I can not sit in a room with the door open, I don't know why but I can't do it.
3. My favourite food is sandwiches and I don't like to share food. I am essentially Joey from friends in female form.
4. I have never seen the wizard of oz. I am determined never to see it either; it is now a matter of principal because of the number of times I have heard "you've never seen it?"
5. I didn't own a pair of jeans until I was 10/11 and very rarely wear them now, a girly girl to the core.
6. I have a recurring nightmare in which one of my legs is shorter than the other, running away from the mocking that ensues due to this debillitating condition is futile as I can move only in a circular motion. I usually wake up close to tears and fumble under the covers to check that all my limbs are in proportion, as nature intended.

Now for the rules!
1) Link who tagged you.
2) Post the rules.
3) List 6 quirky unknown facts, or little known facts about you.
4) Tag 6 fellow bloggers.

I think I shall tag (and I assume this is on behalf of Sea too) Hanna and Rosanna of Little Miss Dress Up, Krissy of Purple Pigment, the girls at R.O.F.Y, Winnie from Diamond Canopy and anyone else who wants it!

Colour me happy, there's a sofa in here for two!

Hey!
I had this sneaky feeling that my new blue skirt would look good with these dark burgandy tights I bought a while ago;
The purple shoes are form Dorothy Perkins, thought I'd throw another random colour into the mix, the tights are lovely 80 deniers from H&M which they have in a multitude of great colours (I may have to stock up!), the skirt is also from H&M and was bought as part of my little spree on Friday. Oh, Topshop are doing this campus tour thing of universities in the UK right now (they're here on Wednesday, woop!) and it includes a sort of design and print your own tee-shirt machine. Personally, I can't wait. They're also doing their students shops again, the ones with alcohol and discount. Edinburgh's is the 14 and 15 of October, perhaps I'll see you there! The grey tee and long silver chains are also from H&M, actually so is the cardigan and the hairband!
This picture from facehunter, just cemented the blue-burgandy combo in my head and I could dress in nothing else this morning!
Yesterday's outfit;

More grey! The shoes are vintage, bought via ebay if memory serves, the tights are from tightsplease, the skirt was thirfted then attacked with scissors by me and the tee and cardigan are H&M, as in the hairband!

Topshop!

Hey!
I'm in a super good mood today, after a morning lecture I had lunch with a school friend and we checked out Edinburgh's new Topshop! It's at least twice the size it used to be and with birthday vouchers/money and carboot sale profits I was looking forward to a good browse. Browsing's always better when you can actually buy things too! More on that later, first some outfits! This is what I wore for my first lecture which was yesterday (got to love sparse fourth year timetables, two lectures a week - score!). I think I was doing head-down blogger posing because I was tired and my face was rank;

Vintage shoes from etsy, H&M wooly tights, H&M dress (old!) and tee, vintage cuff/bangle from ebay. The hairbow, which I bought originally for my birthday party, is from Topshop. My new flatmate said "Noone over 10 should wear bows." and "You look like Mickey Mouse.". I don't think she intended to be bitchy, she's just more of a jeans and a cute top girl, but it is weird living with someone so different from me and my friends. All my flatmates have been that way actually, I sort of confuse them!
Last night I headed over to a work mate's flat for a cocktail party, I actually only tried one cocktail - called the Anal Probe - and I would not recommend it! Seriously, it smelled toxic! We (another work friend and I) didn't stay long as we both had lectures today and I didn't want to face Topshop hungover, but it was a great party. Outfit;

Please excuse the photos! I had to take them in my room (which is tiny, I am at one end and the camera is at the other!) becuase my flatmate was weirdly hovering in the hallway. I probably wore the hairbow again to annoy her...You can't really tell in the photos but I'm wearing the bustier/boobtube thing I got in the Dorothy Perkins sale over a vintage sheer cami-thing. It didn't work that weel because the cami just isn't that sheer but oh well! I thought I'd also get another wear out of the star-print skirt, from Therapy at House of Fraser. The bangle was a gift from family is Australia. I actually changed into darker tights, as below;
Kept the same vintage shoes on even though the sole is coming off! We walked for an hour to get to the flat too, Southern Comfort being consumed along the way, even though it's a maximum of 20 minutes away, we just kind of rambled!

Today's outfit;

The shoes (which are also falling apart) are from Dorothy Perkins, the tights are H&M, the skirt is from Oasis (sale!), the tee is H&M and the blue top thing was thrifted (75p!). Same vintage bangle as yesterday...

Please excuse the chin(s) in the photo! The long necklace is from H&M and the little ballerina is Topshop.

Onto today's shopping trip! I got this leopard tee, which I had seen on the website and loved, even though I don't think it's my usual style (not girly enough, I suppose!) but I still love it, even though it looks kinda sad, I think in the eyes! Also I usually don't wear things that give people an excuse to stare at my chest! Honestly, I was visually molested by two men today whilst eating lunch, mealtime perving is most inappropriate! I got these lovely over-the-knee socks too, they are so soft and the prettiest peach/pink colour, like ballet tights!
I stole this picture from the website as the skirt didn't photograph too well...also, the website describes it as "flannel" which sounds icky and juicy-couture-esque, but the skirt is actually a nice heavy sort of wool material.
I also got a pair of lace leggings, I'm pretty certain it's these ones! I know, trendwhore!
I still had a little money left (shocking, I know) so we headed to H&M where I got this little skirt, not sure yet how it will look on as I had had enough of changing rooms by that point! It does look rather body-con but perhaps it will be tight enough to hold in the muffin tops?
I'm trying to get people to go out tomorrow night so I can wear my new clothes! I am a ridiculous person...

Here we are now, entertain us

Hey!
Outfits from today and yesterday, it's weird being back at uni because I feel like people judge you on what you wear and I always hope that people don't think I'm trying too hard or showing off. I'm trying not to care what others think though, now that I'm a fourth year and therefore their superior! This is yesterday's look;
Do the stripes on this dress make your eyes go weird? It's worse in a photo but my flatmate was complaining that it hurt her head...it's from ebay anyway, the shoes are Topshop and the cardigan is vintage from ebay. I covered my face with the camera since I was pink from the gym and my hair was wet!
Today's outfit;

The shoes are vintage from etsy, the tights and boobtube-skirt are from Primark, the tee is Logo (ew) and the dress was from etsy, the cardigan was a gift from my family in Australia, thanks guys!

I'm excited for tomorrow because it's my first lecture and also becuase the new Topshop opens! I was given a gift card for my birthday from everyone at work and made £30 at a carboot sale (yes, really) on Sunday plus a birthday cheque from my Gran means I'm looking very forward to it! I'll obviously be reviewing the new store for you guys too, I'm selfless like that!

Up north

Hey!
I want to start by thanking everyone who left birthday wishes for me on my last post, thanks! You guys are so sweet and I really appreciate the comments you leave us! Me and my mum are just back from our overnight stay in a hotel in the Highlands (part of my birthday present, I am spolied!). We had fun roaming round the hotel grounds, eating too much and getting beauty treatments. I got my nails done (fire engine red), my make-up done and an eye-brow wax! My mum got some massage thing and a facial. I also managed to convince my mum to buy me some of the products they used (Clarins stuff is nice - I had never used it before) so I am now in possesion of a new mascara and an eyebrow pencil. I've wanted an eyebrow pencil for a while now as years of over-plucking have left my eyebrows in a bit of a mess! They're too thin and small and kind of weirdly sparse even though they're very dark and thick. Basically, I'm not going anywhere near them with tweezers for a considerable amount of time until they fill back in and then I shall seek professional help to get a nice shape, a bit more runway-like I suppose, as I think the tiny eyebrow look is probably a bit dead now.

I didn't get very good outfit posts while I was away, put I shall post the mediocre ones anway! This was taken in the hotel's "Victorian Garden", you can probably tell I used the timer!
This is the Zara dress I bought a couple of weeks ago when my mum and I went through to Glasgow for the day, it isn't the most exciting dress ever but I can see it going with almost everything! The vintage shoes were an etsy purchase and a bad choice for climbing up and down muddy slopes all day, velvet heels in the countryside, what was I thinking? Oh and the same vintage pearls and pearl studs I got from work as I was rocking on my birthday night out.

I mentioned before that I had my make-up done at the hotel spa, it looked really cool, with big smoky eyes and dewy runway-esque skin, but I am unfortunatly rubbish at taking photos of my own face, which seems to seize up at the sight of a camera and so this is the only photo I have of my make-over!

An uber-blurry shot of today's outfit, taken in the hotel mirror!
Not that you can really see at all, but I'm wearing; the same vintage heels, grey tightsplease tights and knee-highs which I think were from H&M! The skirt is Primark, the grey tee is H&M and the cardigan is Zara, from the same Glasgow trip as the black dress!

The town where the hotel is (I've been going there since I was a kid so it was a very nostalgic trip, probably appropriate for a 21st!) is in a town called Crieff. The town has lots of cool shops which we explored today after a huge hotel breakfast! We bought sugar mice and soor plooms in the cutest sweet shop which had a man making fudge in the back and in the window was this clock made of sweets, I wanted to lick it! I've wikipedia-ed some stuff in case you have no idea what soor plooms are ie you are not Scottish!

The town also had a strange goth shop with all kinds of crazy outfits as well the usual fingerless gloves and fishnets. I got this studded cuff, which is something I've been after for a while! It was only £3.50, which is good since all the ones I had admired on etsy were about ten times that! I think it'll toughen up some of my uber-girly outfits...

I was also chuffed when my mum said we could stop in Dunfermline on the way home and visit Primark. I actually bought things in the sale at Primark, am I thrifty or just low? I got some good basics, tights and underwear and a grey boobtube like the black one I have and freaked my mum out when she asked "Is that a top or a skirt?" and I exclaimed "It's both!". She was doubting my sanity and rolling her eyes, but she's been doing that for nearly 21 years now! I also got a black version of the sheer tee I'm wearing here. It seems unlikely that I've only worn the white one once, but I bought the black one bigger for slouchiness (love!). I also got this cute floral top, I have no idea what I'm gonna wear it with but I really like the long sleeves and how it looks, as my mum pointed out, "like a nighty". Man, she was on a roll today!
